CYPRUS
Field Trip on "The Proper and Safe Use of Treated Wastewater in Agriculture": Organized by ARI in Kiti Village (Larnaca), on the 19th October 2006 for farmers' associations, Village Authorities and farmers. Presentation given by Mrs Stalo Anayiotou (focussing on data and numbers from Cyprus from the MEDAWARE project and the guidelines for Wastewater Reuse, and Wastewater Treatment Plants in Cyprus) and Mr. Christos Hadjantonis from the Department of Agriculture (who presented the "Code of Practice for treated domestic sewage effluent used for irrigation in Cyprus").
Field Trips to Larnaca Urban Wastewater Treatment Plant and other areas irrigated by the treated wastewater.
JORDAN
Field Trip organized at Al-Ramtha treatment plant on the 8th March 2006, aimed to show a practical demonstration to farmers, growers and the general public the actual practice of irrigation with reclaimed water from wastewater treatment plant. The program speakers included Prof. Munir Rusan and Prof. K.M. Hameed.
MOROCCO
Field Trip was organized at El Attaouia treatment plant on the 9th June, 2006, in parallel with the second MEDAWARE conference "MEDA WATER International Conference on Sustainable Water Management, Rational Water Use, Wastewater Treatment and ReuseWAT3R Rational, Recycle & Reuse 8-10 June 2006, Marrakech, Morocco"
Field Trip was organized at Drarga treatment plant in 2004 with the President of the association of Agadir Idaoutanane which is occupied of the improvement of the quality of life of the farmers in rural medium and the president as well as the authorities of commune of Drarga. The members of the team of project MEDAWARE explained and sensitized the persons in charge for the commune for better managing the re-use of the wastewater treated in agriculture and the provisions which the farmers must take to minimize the medical risks.
Field Trip was organized at Drarga treatment plant in 2004, in the zone irrigated by treated, with the person in charge the WWTP and the farmers. Thus the farmers make all the provisions necessary to minimize the medical risks (irrigation by drop by drop without direct contact with wastewater).
PALESTINE
One-day field visit (6th of May 2006) to the Gaza Treatment Plant and one of the Pilot projects for re-use. Participation: 20 Palestinian Farmers. The main objective of the workshop was to inform and encourage the farmers to use wastewater reuse techniques. Relevant stakeholders and farmers were invited to attend and participate to the training program. The field visit on the urban wastewater treatment and reuse technologies was organized by the Environment Quality Authority (EQA) in cooperation with the Palestinian Hydrology Group (PHG). The training program was organized based on the signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) between EQA and PHG. The field visit included a lecture presentation, a visit to the Gaza treatment plant and a field visit to the farm where the treated wastewater reuse techniques applied.
SPAIN
Two organised visits for the whole group of project partners took place to selected regions where best examples related to wastewater treatment and reuse schemes are applied, July 2004, Victoria and Tenerife.
TURKEY
Three visits /meetings with the mayors took place to three municipalities.
