Welcome
Dear all,
Over the past few decades, the European Union has proven that Research and Development (R&D) of new water technologies are set high at its environmental agenda. Since 2006 alone, considerable resources have been invested to more than 450 projects related to water research, supported by the main EC programmes, namely LIFE, FP7, CIP and INTERREG. This way, the message that EC aims to deliver is that “Water Is Necessary For Life”.
Recognizing that research should be policy-driven and that industry, research and policy should develop creative collaborations for the uptake of research output, this conference is addressed to all these involved parties and in general to everyone interested in sustainable wastewater management.
As Head of the Scientific Committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to participate in the Conference entitled “Water Is Necessary For Life – WIN4Life” which will be held on the 19th -21st of September 2013 in Tinos Island, Greece. Given that the United Nations declared 2013 as the International Year of Water Cooperation, we hope that this conference will contribute to the UN objective for the year 2013 and that the SOL-BRINE outputs will be widely disseminated and exploited.
I am confident that your participation in this Conference will be rewarding, given that you will have the opportunity to communicate and exchange views about water & wastewater management with delegates and to visit the innovative solar-driven brine treatment system in the beautiful Island of Tinos, Greece.
Yours sincerely,
Prof. Maria Loizidou, National Technical University of Athens
